What is the Esports Nations Cup?
The Esports Nations Cup is an international tournament where countries compete against each other across multiple esports titles. For Sub-Saharan Africa, the League of Legends competition is a major milestone. Players are selected to represent their country, not just a club.
This is a chance to wear your country’s colours on a continental stage and show that Sub-Saharan Africa can compete at the highest level.

National Team Manager Selection
Each Sub-Saharan African nation has been assigned a National Team Manager who is responsible for coordinating the country’s entry and liaising with the Esports Nations Cup organisers.
Title Coach Selection
Each nation’s Team Manager appoints a League of Legends Title Coach who leads the title from an operational and competitive standpoint, overseeing player assessment, player management, administration, team preparation, and overall direction.
Player & Team Selection
South Africa has partnered with Sub-Saharan Africa League of Legends to assist with player trial submissions. Final squad selection is entirely up to the national coaches, whether they use open trials, direct invites, or any other format. In the end, the strongest player in each role earns their spot
Regional Qualifiers
Selected national teams face off in the Sub-Saharan Africa regional qualifier. Only two nations will qualify to represent the region.
Esports Nations Cup Finals
The two qualified nations from the regional qualifiers will travel to Riyadh to represent the region on the global stage against other qualified and invited nations, with the goal of being crowned the EWC 2026 League of Legends champions and competing for a share of the $1,500,000 prize pool.
